If you think it is such a doddle mate, why not give it a go? All these folks who have a moan about the SE need a year or two to understand what it entails. If you dont have any work, no cash. aday off, no cash, feel ill, sorry you cant afford to be under the weather. Put money to a pension, mortgage, etc, bit difficult when you dont know when, or if you are going to get paid. Still keen, go and try it if you think it that easy. Rant over. |

Crazy to think we once had 66000 in St Andrews and that was with a tiny railway end stand! |

As I understand it, attendance is measured by electronically recorded turnstile clicks. A club would be very foolish to try to massage attendance figures. |

The tax fiddle used to happen at all grounds in the terrace day plus people used to jump the walls at grounds. It can't happen now with bar code and computerization surely?? |

My uncle who took me down when I was a kid used to give the guy on the turnstiles £2 to put us both thro on one turn of the stile. It was £1.30 to get in at the time, so the turnstile guy got 70p, I got in for 70p and the gate was one less. But keep it to yourself  |

Some guys on the turnstiles in the "standing" days would allow 2 or 3 kids to jump over and charge for One adult and one kid - pocketing the difference. Every few goes, that's quite a perk. People knew which turnstile to go to, and I used to wonder why we walked back and forwards looking for a particular old and pot-bellied bloke on the turnstile. They moved them around as some kind of safeguard against pilfering. You've got to love the Coombes' :LMAO: Figures reduced in the old days through that "perk". Nowadays the actual "clicks" are what is accounted for. Don't matter if it's a Season or a Pay=on=the-Day. If it clicks you are counted. 10% of Season Ticket holders miss any match anyway. Be it Old Trafford, Emirates or St Andrews - that is the average of missing ST holders per match. They won't be included in any figure because they didn't click. The "adjustment" comes in the auditing. If you have 20,000 ST holders and 2,000 don't Turn up...... you can basically sell 2,000 more tickets without VAT. That's the fiddle and there is no way of stopping that at Swindon, Man Utd or St Andrews. Years ago they tried a counter on each turnstile at Swindon. The figures stayed the same and in accordance with those released by Swindon over the season. That is the scam - the lower ST attendance being offset to the actual attendance. Can't be proven and I'm sure most clubs use it.So the VAT inspectorate probably make allowances for it. Beyond that, we come down to perception. Via TV, my perception would be a greater attendance for Arsenal than Everton. Which is right. We were near full on figures and empty seats.Only a couple of thou missing for a full house - allowing for the 500 on the GM. No falsification, no conspiracy, no problem. :D |

I dont see how you can sell tickets based on this fact, how can they know which ST holders are not going to turn up and sell there seat. Sorry this doesnt stack up for me. |
